Independent Abilene

The purpose of this blog is two-fold: first, I wish to provide facts that many Abilenians may not know; facts that could change the way they feel about city government, taxation, and civil liberties. Second, this blog will serve as a sounding board for my own Libertarian opinions--and your opinions, too, of any stripe. Together, let's make Abilene a better place.

National Elections and the Common Voter

In today's The Times (British newspaper), there is a report that Oprah Winfrey has angered her viewers by aligning herself with Obama. One upset visitor to her website was quoted as saying "She has chosen her race over her gender!"

Here's an idea: why not choose the candidate who most represents your political viewpoints instead of the candidate who looks the most like you?

The fact that the common voter becomes angry at Oprah for mis-supporting the wrong candidate for this reason illustrates what's wrong with today's American political landscape.
